Our postdoctoral researcher, Luíza Cerioli, along with co-author Jens Heibach (German Institute for Global Affairs, GIGA), has contributed a chapter to the forthcoming volume The Russia-Ukraine War and the Global South’s Sovereignty Paradox, edited by Raj Verma and published by Routledge. The book explores the multifaceted impacts of the Russia-Ukraine war, focusing on how the conflict interacts with sovereignty issues in the Global South, a region caught between international power struggles and its own sovereignty aspirations.
Cerioli and Heibach’s chapter, “Saudi Arabia’s Ambivalent Stance on the Russia-Ukraine War: Balancing Regime Stability and Equal Sovereignty,” analyzes Saudi Arabia’s nuanced position on the conflict, highlighting how the kingdom seeks to balance its internal political stability with its desire to maintain equal sovereignty on the global stage amidst the shifting geopolitical landscape.
The book is currently available for pre-order here and is scheduled for publication on June 4, 2025.
