Green Energy Transition in Latin America

New book available!

Contents

Latin America is gaining significant geopolitical importance in the context of the climate crisis, decarbonization, and the transition to renewable energy. On one hand, the region is crucial as a supplier of critical raw materials that are essential for producing electric cars, wind turbines, and solar panels. On the other hand, it is becoming an important market for green technologies made in China, the USA, and Europe. Additionally, Latin America possesses abundant wind, solar, and water resources, which are vital for the production of green hydrogen.

This complex situation will fundamentally transform the subcontinent. The upcoming changes will create new opportunities, but they may also lead to new conflicts. Through the lens of the energy transition, this edited volume explores the future of Latin America, focusing on geopolitical shifts, development policy options, potential conflicts, and alternative solutions.
