On June 23, 2025, our team member Dr. Luíza Cerioli will take part in the Public Lecture Series “Infrastructure, Capitalism and Dependency in the Digital Age”, hosted by the University of Bonn and organized by the CASSIS (Center for Advanced Security, Strategic and Integration Studies).
Her lecture will explore the evolving nature of power in the global market economy and the growing dependencies between countries with diverse developmental paths.
Dr. Cerioli’s presentation, titled “Beyond North-South: Extractivism and the China–Latin America Economic Cooperation”, will examine China’s role in reinforcing and expanding extractivist development models in Latin America. As a key trading and investment partner in the region, China has become deeply embedded in extractive infrastructures across several Latin American countries—shaping their social, economic, and political landscapes.
The lecture will be moderated by Dr. Rogelio Madrueño.
