BIOGRAPHY

Hanen Keskes is a researcher and policy advisor with over ten years of experience in development issues specialised in the MENA region, particularly Tunisia. She holds a PhD in political science and international relations from the University of Nottingham, a master’s degree in defence, development and diplomacy from Durham University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and translation from the American University of Beirut. Her research interests include political theory, energy, security, counter-terrorism, democratisation, and policy and legal reform. She has contributed to a number of research projects exploring the intersection of women’s rights, economics and politics. As Senior Officer for the Middle East and North Africa at the Natural Resource Governance Institute, she analyses the possibilities and limits of a just energy transition in the region.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROJECT

Hanen researches the energy transition and state-society relations in Tunisia. Currently, she analyses the possibilities and limits of the implementation of a participatory and efficient resource and energy regime in the country. She also works with policy recommendations for decentralised and community-oriented energy production strategies.
