Welcoming New Extractivism.de Fellows at CELA, 16 June 2025

On Monday, 16 June 2025, an informal gathering took place at CELA (the Center for Latin American Studies, an interdisciplinary research center focusing on Latin American social, political, and economic issues) to welcome the new fellows of the Extractivism.de project working on Latin America.

PhD students affiliated with CELA, guest researchers from Argentina, and colleagues engaged in related fields came together for a lively exchange of research ideas. The meeting highlighted the presence of three new Extractivism.de Research Fellows: Siran Huang (Leiden University, Netherlands), Beatriz Calzada Olvera (Erasmus University Rotterdam), and Gabriel Rivas Castro (Diego Portales University, Chile), who are currently working on various dimensions of extractivism and its geopolitical implications in Latin America.

This event provided a valuable opportunity to foster connections, encourage interdisciplinary dialogue, and build potential collaborations within the vibrant research community focused on Latin America in Hessen.
