CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROJECT

Manuel Sutherland brings to Extractivism.de extensive knowledge and empiric data about the economics and politics of Venezuela, an Latin American extractivist country par excellence. During his stay, Sutherland aims to grasp the current crisis of the rentier model in the country via qualitative and quantitative perspectives. Furthermore, by discussing the non-sustainability of the extractivist mining sector as an alternative to the deteriorating oil sector, he aims to stress the influence of the political actors within the politics of appropriation and distribution of the rents.
